"How long have you been at Memorial?"?

Dr. Jackson: Many patients are interested in knowing why I made the move from South Florida to Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Twenty years ago in 1988, I was asked by the leadership of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio to join twenty two other physicians to establish a branch facility in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

After twenty years of prostate cancer surgery (the last five being an exclusive focus on daVinci robotic surgery), I concluded my tenure at Cleveland Clinic Florida as Chairman, Department of Urology.

I accepted an opportunity to become part of the development of Memorial's regional cancer surgical center. I was impressed with the dedication of the leadership at Memorial Hospital, the quality of the facility, and the excellence of the medical staff.

The natural beauty of the area, the friendly people, and quality of the schools helped to make the decision to move a clear one. I was born in Nashville, and my wife and I both have family in middle and east Tennessee. We are very happy in Chattanooga and feel very lucky to be here. I was also fortunate enough to persuade my long time surgical nurse and assistant, Micheal Albert RN to make the move with his wife from South Florida as well.
