Dr. Jackson routinely treats patients that have traveled a long distance for surgical management of their prostate cancer. Fortunately, prostate cancer typically progresses very slowly. The natural history of prostate cancer gives patients the flexibility and time to research their condition and obtain treatment when and where they would like.

For those interested in surgical management, the limited recovery afforded by the daVinci Robotic System makes comfortable travel realistic. It is suggested that a total of ten days be set aside for treatment and recovery. This includes a preoperative visit one to two days before the surgery, followed by one night in the hospital and five days in the hotel with a catheter. Patients may plan to return home on the second day after the catheter is removed (day 8 after surgery).

Chattanooga is home to a number of fine hotels near the hospital. A list of those hotels with a business arrangement with Memorial Hospital and recommended by our patients may be found on our travel page.
