"What can I expect?"
Russell Morgan: Those are substantial benefits. You've come highly recommended to me Dr. Jackson, but what else should I consider in choosing my surgeon?
Dr. Jackson: That's a good question. There is obviously surgical experience, reputation, and previous patient outcomes. And, although the situation is not frequent, my range of experience in performing both open and robot-assisted surgery could become important. In rare instances it may not be possible to make progress with the dissection using the robotic technique because of anatomic obstacles. In such a case, I would be able to convert to an open technique to achieve our goals.
Keep in mind that you have a solvable problem. Our three goals are: 1) to cure your disease, 2) rapid and complete recovery of your urinary control, and 3) to preserve your potency.
Russell Morgan: As a patient, what can I do to help achieve these goals?
Dr. Jackson: Remember this disease progresses very slowly giving you time to make your decision about surgery and to get yourself into condition. Good nutrition, weight management and exercise are important to your overall condition for surgery and recovery. We have pre-op instructions available on our website or you can call and get a copy from our office.
Russell Morgan: What do I need to do to schedule surgery?
Dr. Jackson: Call us. We can schedule your surgery and give you any additional information you need.
